HARRISON MEMORIAL LIBRARY

Harrison Memorial Library was named after after former principal the Hon. Albert E. Harrison who served Munro College during the years 1907-1937. The present location was a gym but was transformed into a library some years ago. However the library was destroyed with the onslaught of hurricane Ivan. After the devastation, a library restoration committee was formed. The main objective of the committee was to restore the library to a state-of-the-art learning centre. The committee with the assistance of the school was able to solicit building materials and funds to repair the library which was reopened in November, 2004. On December 1st, 200, the entire shaky wooden floor of the library was demolished and replaced by solid concrete structure and beautiful ceramic tiles.

The library collection has grown over the two years. the collection consists of books, journals, computers, printers, photocopiers, internet access and daily news papers. From a total of approximately five hundred books in 2005, the book collection now stands at over four thousand books and subscription for periodicals such as PC World, Tennis, Harpers, Business Week, National Geographic, Reader's Digest, Scientific America, Decision and The Economic.

The Library could not have advanced thus far without the contribution and assistance of the following persons and organizations- Principal, Mr Brandford Gayle, The Board of Governors, Munro & Dickenson Trust, Library Restoration Committee, Parents Teachers Association, Munro College Old Boys Association, both Jamaican and Canadian Chapters, other Old Boys, Sangster's Book Stores, Food For The Poor, YES Jamaica in Texas, USA; teachers, students, parents, and the Kiwanian Club of Kingston.

The Munro Family greatly appreciate your assistance and express profound gratitude.
