Board of Governors

Message from board of governors

On behalf of the Board of Governors, I am again very pleased to recognize the achievements of Munro College during the past year. We celebrated 150 years of existence- a testimony to the strength and determination of the may stakeholders charged, over the years, with the growth and guidance of the college.

Over these years the college has remained true to its primary objective which continues to be the development of young men, who are well rounded and productive citizens of Jamaica. This is the basic principle which has guided the college from its very inception. We seek to provide our students with a disciplined and structured educational environment. More importantly, the College is not only geared to foster academic achievement but we encourage extra curricular activities. Indeed, to support these objectives the Board of Governors has put in place a Strategic Plan to guide the continued expansion of the College.

To this end, I would like to use this opportunity to invite all of the college's many stakeholders to lend their support to the Board as we move into the implementation of our Strategic Plan, which requires significant infrastructural development to position the College to successfully face the challenges of the twenty-first century. But this will take capital; good will alone can not sustain Munro College in the years to come and the Board looks forward to your continued support, in word and deed, as we join forces to enhance the academic programme and expand the student population.

The work of the Board of Governors continues to receive support from many stakeholders and this is an opportunity to recognize the invaluable assistance provided by the Chairman and Trustees of the Munro and Dickenson Trust, The Parent Teachers Association, The Old Boys Association, our students, our academic, administrative and support staff, as well as our immediate community. The Board acknowledges their contribution to the growth and formation of the College and we reiterate our determination to build on the College's past achievements and to remain true to the mission of Munro College - the development of young men as well rounded, educated citizens of Jamaica.

Gregory B. Shirley -  The Chairman of the Board of Governors
