In 1993 a new Board of Governors was appointed for Munro College. This encouraged the revival of the Munro & Dickenson Trust that at this time was dormant. The Munro & Dickenson Trust, at the time, even shared the post of chairman with that of the board of Governors.
Subsequently, the Munro College Old Boys Association held a long overdue General Meeting and a new executive committee emerged. The president then elected was Robert Stephens. Monthly executive committee meetings were held at the boardroom of President Stephen's office. A member of his staff acted as recording secretary and all data for the association (M.C.O.B.A) stored on the computer at their office.
The objectives of The Secretariat (M.C.O.B.A) could be listed as:
1. the dedicated compilation, grouping and secure storage of the co-coordinators of every Munronian (Overseas, Local or Honorary)
2. To communicate with all members on the activities, achievements and programs at Munro College
3. To solicit the participation of all the members to events, (meetings, social fund raisers e.t.c) of the M.C.O.B.A
4. to disseminate information of members and their families among the membership
5. to assist whenever and wherever possible the programmes, activities and plans at Munro College
6. to assist wherever possible Munronians on Campus or off-Campus
It has bee an objective to have the Hampton Old Girls Association team with us in maintaining an effective Secretariat. You are welcomed to join as soon as you graduate.
Message:
You are gentlemen, a most fortunate group of young Jamaicans. Some years before 1856, Hugh Munro wrote in his last Will and Testament; "to provide quality education for poor boys of St. Elizabeth".
It has taken one hundred and fifty, (150), years for the Jamaican society to understand , to accept and more importantly, to implement the Will of Hugh Munro. Jamaica today will boast free tuition. This school is truly legendary in Jamaica. The opportunity to pursue academic development will be very real.
However, should you so discover, or should you also desire, the Munro College Campus will afford you the opportunity to develop your prowess at Track and Field, Football, Cricket, Field hockey, Tennis, Basketball and a host of further sporting activities in what has been established as the world's sixth best climate- Malvern, St. Elizabeth. There are no other campuses so well equipped or so well blessed.
It is our feverent wish that you, as a Munronian, will truly maximize this opportunity to develop into an outstanding Jamaican by using well every component of this fine institution. Never waste this gift.
Peter D. Chin - President- Munro College Old Boys Association
