CHAMPS 2009 will be staged at the National Statdium April 1 - 4. After the success of the Basketball and Hockey teams and the commanding performance at WESTERN CHAMPS the Munro Family is anticipating more success.
CLASS I (16-19 year olds)
Class I will be Munro's weakest group. Athlethes to look out for are: OMAR BRYAN, RASSACK WHITE and RAJAE GAYLE in the throws. If totally healthy DEXTER McKENZIE should score heavily in the long jump while with some luck JODI-RAE BLACKWOOD (400M), ERROL DAVIS (800M) and MIKHAIL JOHNS (triple jump) could surprise us.
This class should contribute 20-25 points.
CLASS II (15-16 years old)
Munro is expected to perform creditably in this age group. Sprinters ROLANDO REID and ADAM CUMMUNINS, class III 100m champion in 2007 and 2008 are expected to be major factors in the 100m. Add DELANO WILLIAMS (200m) to that duo and much is expected from the sprinters. Hurdler PATRICK CAMPBELL (5th in 2008 ) is a medal prospect in the 100m hurdles and will certainly contribute to the 4x100m relay team. The Gold Medal is not beyond this team. EMMANUEL ONYIA should maintain the rich tradition of Munro in the throws (discuss/shots).
Class II should contibute 40-50 points.
CLASS III (Under 14)
The class III squad is built around KANEIL HARRISON. He should figure prominently in any event he competes and two gold medal is a distinct possibility. At Gibson Relays the 4x100m team ran 44.87 for the 4th place. This time they should run fatser and place higher. LEVARR DUNCHIE is a tough little customer - look out for him in an undistinguished 800m field.
20-25 points is expected in this class.
SUMMARY
Munro should score between 80-100 points with 11 medals. A TOP SIX finish is expecetd and then bragging rights as the top RURAL SCHOOL.
Then again, this is sports and sports has a big element of unpredictability. GOOD LUCK TO OUR TEAM
