Mathematics department

The Munro College mathematics department welcomed the new academic year with its complete fleet of six members. Miss Josephine Williams was welcomed as the newest member. It would appear that the well selected  and trained team was on target to achieving success.

The results from the Christmas Term Examinations indicated that the department was somewhat on its way to achieving some of his goals with forms 1,2 and 4 acquiring above 80% passes. Despite the challenges of gaining stability in its teaching staff, the department received some rewards when Munro College was placed 3rd in the  M & M Mathematics competition for secondary schools in St. Elizabeth. We won $20,000 and the students received individual cash prizes, plaque and certificates. Commendations are in order for the students who represented the school.

The members of the department are looking forward to the new school year. In preparation, we are reviewing the challenges and successes of the current school year , the syllabus and teaching strategies are being analyzed. The department will continue to strive for the improved attitude of the students to the subject and subsequently, increased passes in external examinations.
